Altan-Bolag Mineral Springs

Altan-Bolag is a cluster of mineral springs in Selenginsk District at Khamar-Daban's southern slope. Water emerges from cool to hot, rich in minerals. Baths, drinking galleries and small санаторииiums treat musculoskeletal and digestive conditions. Known since Soviet times in Buryatia. Compact site — pools, burettes and dormitories in a riverside hollow. Green summers with midges; winter steam over hot baths in frost. A working medical facility with treatment rules, not an architecture monument. Course or single visits subject to availability. Combine with Lake Gusinoye and Khamar-Daban passes — a classic southern Buryatia stop.

How to get there

~30 km from Gusinoozyorsk on a local road; from Ulan-Ude via Selenginsk.

Best season

Year-round for treatments; book lodging ahead in summer
