Amgun River Shore

The Amgun flows through taiga and flood meadows in the krai's north — a major Amur tributary with a wide floodplain and seasonal water regime. Nikolayevsk-on-Amur is the nearest large town. Locals fish and camp by the water in summer; the river freezes in winter but ice travel without local knowledge is risky due to current and cracks. Almost no tourist services — shops, fuel and reliable comms are in town. A trip here is the krai's other geography — a northern river toward the Sea of Okhotsk. Routes follow the floodplain on local roads from Nikolayevsk with river stops. Dense floodplain mosquitoes; camp away from the channel edge. Stock food and fuel in town, respect fishing nets and private camps. Satellite comms beat mobile on remote reaches.
