Amur Cliffs Below Khabarovsk

Downstream from Khabarovsk centre, basalt bluffs shape the Amur's right bank — cliffs, flood meadows and pine ridges typical of the mid-Amur. Cliffs alternate with gentler stretches where low water reveals meadows and pine groves. Views are easier from a boat or village stops south of the city. Spring flood raises the Amur and changes shore access; water-level inspection is safer in calm season with a local captain who knows the current. Suited to short stops en route to southern Amur villages — photos, marked rest areas, talks with anglers about the river season. Swimming is dangerous due to strong current. Drive south from Khabarovsk to right-bank villages. Floodplain repellent, life jacket for river trips and respect for private plots are essential.
