Askiz Steppe

Askiz steppe spreads around Askiz village and river — among the republic's few true steppes. Livestock grazing; asphalt and dirt roads — working land, not a park. Sayan ridges on the horizon; west to Bely Iyus petroglyphs and Kazanovka. Best by car with stops on rises. Khakassia's open landscape layer without city museums.

~250 km from Abakan via Ust-Abakan.
