One of the active geysers in Uzon caldera, Kronotsky Reserve — a lesser-known neighbour of the Valley of Geysers with regular steam and water eruptions.
Burlyashchy Geyser
Burlyashchy is a geyser in Uzon volcano caldera within Kronotsky Reserve. Uzon caldera is its own geothermal area with dozens of hot springs, mud pots and several active geysers, separate from the famous Valley of Geysers. The geyser periodically ejects water and steam; intervals and height depend on season and subsurface activity. Burlyashchy is on routes the reserve opens to limited groups — not daily mass tourism. Caldera scenery is flat tundra floor, lakes and bright mineral stains on slopes. Brown bears live here; the reserve strictly limits visitor numbers and seasons. Burlyashchy suits those who know the Valley of Geysers and want another geothermal complex in the same reserve. Visit only with escort and special permit.
