Chumatsky Beech Forest
The Vorovskoles Heights beech forest, known as Chumatsky Forest, is a regional botanical monument in Andropovsky District, including Maloye and Bolshoye Chumatskoye sites. In the western steppe zone a rare northern oak–hornbeam–beech formation persists with other broadleaf species at 600–700 m elevation. The forest sits in the Chumatskaya gully headwaters, contrasting with surrounding steppe and Semistozhki. Protection rules limit economic use. For botanists and rare-forest lovers, not mass picnics. Paths are unpaved; tick season matters.
