Dedovichi Forest Lakes

Dedovichi stand in the namesake district east of the oblast between Pskov and Novgorod. A small centre — admin offices, shops, school, wooden houses. Lakes and mixed forest around. Several rural churches — stone and wood, some active, some closed. Not museum ensembles but living or half-forgotten village temples. Shallow lakes with grassy shores; summer fishing, winter skiing. Almost no tourist infrastructure — isolated holiday camps. A base for trips to Porkhov, the Shelon valley and forest villages. Allow 2–3 days for quiet water time. Local roads, few signs — offline navigation and fuel reserves essential.

How to get there

~100 km east from Pskov by car; bus with connections.

Best season

June–September; winter for experienced skiers
