Dolgaya Spit

Dolgaya (Dolzhanskaya) Spit is a regional landscape nature monument in Yeysk District on the eastern Azov shore. A narrow shell-and-sand strip separates Taganrog Bay from the open Azov; Dolzhanskaya stanitsa sits at the base. The monument protects distinctive relief, bird nesting sites and rare coastal plants (Krasnodar Krai OOPT summaries and cadastres). The spit is dynamic: length and outline shift with storms and currents; popular texts contrast former 15–17 km figures with shorter modern ones — treat numbers cautiously without fresh survey. Near the stanitsa lie resorts and beaches; farther toward the tip are wilder stretches favoured by wind- and kitesurfers. This is Azov, not a Black Sea postcard: shallows, shell grit, steppe wind. Follow OOPT rules, stay off dunes, and keep clear of nesting colonies in season.
