Dvina Delta Fishing Villages

The Northern Dvina delta — branches, flood meadows and small villages where fishing and river work remain daily life. Not a resort embankment but working landscape with landings, nets and wooden houses by the water. Reach from Arkhangelsk or Severodvinsk on paved roads with dirt branches to individual villages. Motor boats in summer; winter ice and ice roads to seasonal camps. Visitors come for Pomor river atmosphere — fog, gulls, low banks, water and fish smells. Many yards are private — do not enter landings or yards uninvited. Plan as a day trip from the city or part of a longer White Sea and Solovki-direction route. Dense mosquitoes and midges by the water in summer; strong river wind. Repellent, wind shell and respect for private land are essential.
