Little-known ruins of an Order gate tower near Kurortnoye.
Gross Vonsdorf Castle
On the castle hill in Kurortnoye (former Gross Vonsdorf) once stood the Prussian fort Kapostete, replaced by an Order castle built in 1356–1372. Later a Kammeramt subordinate to Insterburg was based here. After an 1830 fire the fort was dismantled and never rebuilt — few visitors come here today. What remains are ruins of the 1356 gate tower, wall fragments and the motte platform. Three kilometres away are the Auglitten church ruins in Progress — a natural pair for one trip through Pravdinsk district. Access to the castle hill is via local roads from Pravdinsk.
