A district centre on the Oka's high bank — embankment, landing stage and views of the wide steppe Volga-region river.

Inzhavino Oka Embankment

Inzhavino stands on the Oka's high right bank — a major water artery of steppe Volga country. The town became a district centre because of the river: landing stage, ferry and trade in grain, timber and fish. The embankment runs along a steep bank with views of wide floodplain, islands and the low opposite shore. Pleasure docks operate in summer; in winter ice turns the panorama monochrome. Historic Inzhavino is compact: merchant houses, church and market a few blocks from the embankment. Allow half a day — centre in the morning, water in the afternoon. Inzhavino suits anglers and river landscape lovers, not a museum complex. A rare oblast view of a major river — the Oka is wider than local Tsna and Lomovka. Combine with Kirsanov (~55 km) and Rzhaksa mineral springs (~35 km) for eastern water and steppe.

How to get there

Inzhavino, Oka embankment; ~130 km east of Tambov.

Best season
