Khorinsky Datsan
Khorinsky Datsan stands in Sverilen village, Khorinsk District, 100 km from Ulan-Ude. Founded in the 18th century, long the spiritual centre of eastern Buryats. Main temple, stupas, monks' quarters and outbuildings — Tibetan forms with local wood and stone. Active monastery with daily services and monk training. Visitors welcome at set hours; same modesty rules as Ivolginsky Datsan. Steppe and gentle hills of eastern Buryatia, far from Baikal tourist routes. A deliberate choice for regional Buddhist history. Combine with the Barguzin Valley if your route crosses eastern Buryatia.
