Khrenovsky Horse Stud

Khrenovsky State Stud in Khrenovoye, Bobrovsky District, is among Russia's oldest stud farms. Founded in the 18th century; Orlov Trotters were bred and refined here — pride of domestic horse breeding. Historic buildings, stables, indoor arenas and parkland survive. Tours cover stud history, trotter breed and modern breeding work. Visits usually by appointment with staff. Khrenovoye stands in open windy steppe near the Oka. Summer demo rides and equestrian festivals draw crowds. Not a zoo but a working farm with biosecurity rules. Do not feed horses or enter paddocks without permission. Combine with Oka embankment in Bobrov (~25 km) or Buturlinovka chalk hills (~45 km) — central oblast route. Book tours and check hours ahead; walk-in access may be refused.
