Fifteenth-century brick Gothic church ruins in Porechye.
Allenau Church
A few kilometres from Pravdinsk, in the village of Porechye, the ruins of a fifteenth-century parish church rise in brick Gothic. Building dates to the early through third quarter of the 1400s; tradition links the foundation to Grand Masters of the Order from the Jungingen family. Until 1945 the church served the Lutheran community of former Allenau; since 2007 it has been a regionally protected heritage site. The roof is gone, but wall volumes, a tall tower with blind windows and the east gable still hold the silhouette. The drive from Pravdinsk takes a few minutes — look for Porechye village, Sadovaya Street. Visit during daylight for the best views of the gable and tower.
