Koda Mountain Range

The Kodar Range runs northwest–southeast separating river basins north and south. Rocky ridges and summer snow aloft; larch taiga and sparse valleys below. Crossings need mountaineering experience and route registration. Fast weather — fog, storms and ridge wind in summer are normal. Logistically linked to Novaya Chara and Chara Sands — many groups combine both in one expedition. Solo access without prep and comms is risky. No infrastructure on passes — tent, stove, food reserves and satellite comms essential. Bears are common — store food away from camp. Not a roadside viewpoint but a serious northern Trans-Baikal mountain route. Allow a weather buffer day; do not underestimate altitude cold.
