A high lake linked with Kucherla — part of classic south-west taiga route chains.

Kucherlinskoye Lake

Kucherlinskoye Lake lies higher in the valley system near Kucherla; cold water, forested rocky shores. Access continues a multi-day link, not a roadside stop. Less famous than Kucherla to mass tourism, but the two-lake chain is valued by experienced travellers. Passes and fords between them take time and strength. Protected nature zones apply — permits and route sheets required. Nights in tents at camps. Surrounding peaks show from shore ridges; fog and rain are common. Pack extra food and stove fuel. For hikers ready for a week in taiga without signal after day hikes.

How to get there

On foot or horseback from Ust-Koksa via Kucherla; no road to the lake.

Best season

July–August with open passes
