Kuloy River Valley
The Kuloy flows through forest and meadow landscapes in the oblast's southeast. Shore villages hold wooden churches — Kimzha and Verkhnaya Toima among the best known; many buildings are protected heritage. Roads are mostly dirt and forest tracks, season- and rain-dependent. Winter ice roads, summer 4×4 with spare fuel. The valley rewards a chain of hamlets — river, meadows, active and closed churches, working yards. People still live here; not an open-air museum. Plan two to four days with guesthouse or permitted camp stays. Unstable signal and minimal services — stock food and fuel before entering the valley.
