Kyzyl-Khaya Village

Kyzyl-Khaya is a Mongun-Tayginsky kozhuun village on the Mogen-Buren River at the foot of Mongun-Taiga, about 2,000 m elevation. Mostly Tuvan residents; Buddhist tradition sits alongside high-mountain life. The village is a practical base before Hindiktig-Khol and routes along the Shapshal range. Infrastructure is modest — limited shops; carry fuel and expect patchy signal. Winter roads depend on snow; summer on stream fords. Not a tourist hub but a living highland settlement — hospitality works best arranged through local contacts. Respect private ground, ask before photographing people, pack out litter from pastures. Sarlyky and herds are daily life, not decoration.
