Leshukonskoye

Leshukonskoye stands on the Pinega river as the district administrative centre. Roads north branch from here toward Mezen, the White Sea coast and settlements reachable only in the warm season. Shops, petrol station, clinic and bus links to Arkhangelsk and Pinega. For travellers it is the last well-stocked stop before long northern dirt roads. Not a tourist showcase — a typical northern settlement with wooden houses, a landing and log-driving history. The stop is about logistics: road checks, fuel and supplies. Motor boats run on the Pinega in summer; winter ice roads. Rain washes out dirt branches to remote villages — locals update passability daily. Include Leshukonskoye in Pinega–Mezen–Shoyna loops as an overnight between long drives. Budget time for travel, not only village sightseeing.
