Magadan State Nature Reserve

Magadan Reserve protects taiga, river valleys and coast in the oblast's southwest. Typical Kolyma coast plant communities and large mammal habitats remain — from brown bear to marine species on coastal sections. Visits require permits and staff guides — independent trekking in the protected zone is forbidden. A research and conservation area, not a picnic park; agree routes and filming with the office in advance. Excursions may show bear, elk and wolverine signs; coastal haul-outs appear in season under reserve rules and at safe distance.
