Masleevo Lake

Masleevo Lake in Dzerzhinsky District is an oval basin of 1.92 km², 2.9 km long, up to 1 km wide at 170.5 m elevation. Central depth exceeds 6 m; the east bank is sandy, west and south-west shores are boggy. Since the 2010s it holds regional nature-monument status. Bottom sediments include sapropel up to 3.48 m thick in the centre; local accounts note springs in the bed and high clarity in the XX century. Fish include pike, roach, perch, tench and carp. Access from highway 04K-021: turn onto the forest road right after the Kolon River bridge before Kolon settlement. ~280 km from Krasnoyarsk, closer from Kansk. North-east shore has holiday bases (former “Chaika” pioneer camp). Not a wilderness reserve but a “local beach” for Taseyevo and Krasnoyarsk — busy in summer, quiet in winter. No fires on the sand outside designated areas; do not remove sapropel without knowing monument rules.
