Mirozhsky Monastery and Frescoes

Mirozhsky Monastery stands on the Velikaya's right bank within Pskov but away from the Kremlin. Its treasure — the early-12th-century Transfiguration Cathedral with wall paintings among the oldest surviving in Rus. Frescos partly lost, partly restored; climate control inside for preservation. Visit during museum hours — tickets at the booth, tours on schedule. Walled enclosure, towers and service buildings. River and opposite bank views — a quiet city corner without Kremlin wall crowds. Visit as a separate stop: 1–2 hours for cathedral and riverside walk. For early Rus painting, not only Kremlin panoramas. Park and residential blocks nearby; Pskov centre reachable on foot or by bus.
