Navlya River Valley

The Navlya River is a left Desna tributary about 126 km long; its basin covers Navlinsky and parts of other Bryansk districts. The floodplain is broad with meadows and riverside willows; spring brings a marked rise in water level. Villages on the Navlya banks retain 19th–early 20th-century timber and stone building. The area is known for WWII partisan history; detachments operated from nearby forests and field airstrips. The valley suits quiet walks, fishing and waterfowl watching. There are no official eco-trails — routes follow bank roads and meadow paths. Navlya town is the district centre at the river and regional road crossing; it retains monuments and post-war building stock. Combine the valley with partisan memorials and Navlinsky District forest tracts.
