Ozernaya River Sockeye Run
The Ozernaya River enters Ozernaya Bay on the south-west coast. One of Kamchatka's largest sockeye spawning runs passes here from ocean to river. During the run shallow water turns red with fish; bears, otters and eagles gather to feed. Shore and boat viewing are possible but reserve rules and fishing laws are strict. The reach lies in protected lands; commercial and sport fishing are regulated. For visitors this is primarily an ecological spectacle, not a casual angling spot. Combine the run with Kurilskoye Lake and Cape Lopatka — but only with an organized group or local guide who knows current restrictions.
