Petrovo-Dalnee Estate

On the high left bank of the Moskva where the Istra joins it stands an estate of the Prozorovsky princes and later a Golitsyn branch (historic names Petrovskoye, Petrovo-Durnevo). The seat is known from the seventeenth century. In 1684–1688, funded by boyar P. I. Prozorovsky and his daughter Anastasia Golitsyna, a stone Dormition church with side chapels was built — an early centric “octagon on cube”; Patriarch Joachim consecrated it (parish and local-history notes confirm this beyond popular retellings). After the Prozorovskys the estate passed to the Golitsyns; later generations (including F. N. Golitsyn) shaped its country-seat flowering. The stone main house, wings and a park dropping to the river set the silhouette over the valley. For visitors: the historic stone Dormition church was destroyed in the Soviet period (demolished around mid-twentieth century). In the twenty-first century the parish returned: first a wooden church, then stone reconstruction on the historic site — check the current look of the yard. Estate buildings may be in use with limited access; the riverbank landscape and park are often the main open value of a walk.
