Lake Pyasino
Lake Pyasino is a 735 km² glacial sheet on the south-west North Siberian Lowland ~20 km from Norilsk. Coordinates 69°40′N 87°52′E; ~70 × 15 km, elevation 28 m, mean depth ~4 m, max 39.1 m. Inflows Norilskaya, Ambarnaya, Dzhangy; outflow Pyasina. Freezes early October, opens late June–early July. Catchment 24,000 km² — among the largest in the Taimyr part of the krai. A working water body with a long northern development history, not a tourist postcard. Ecological context includes industrial load in the basin — studies note water chemistry change and reduced fish stocks near Norilsk. Visits suit landscape and river routing more than “wild beach” recreation. Reach from Norilsk by winter road, water or local roads by season. Respect enterprise zones — no entry to technical areas without a pass.
