Rdeisky Forest Tract

The Rdeisky forest tract lies in Zhukovsky District, Bryansk Oblast, in the Desna basin. The name refers to a local woodland northeast of Zhukovka — not the famous bog reserve in Novgorod Oblast but Bryansk's own forest complex. Mixed stands dominate with pine, birch and aspen. Undergrowth is typical of the middle belt: bird cherry, rowan, bramble. Woodpeckers, tits and thrushes are active in spring and autumn; fox and hare occur. Paths are maintained by locals and forestry; there is no official museum or visitor centre — a natural spot for independent walks. The nearest large settlement is Zhukovka with a railway station on the Bryansk–Unecha line. The tract is a traditional mushroom and berry area; season runs August to October. In winter paths serve cross-country skiing when snow cover allows. Combine with Unecha or Dyatkovo — all within an hour's drive from Bryansk on regional roads.
