A reserve in Demyansk District with a waterfall on the Rdechka River — among the oblast's least mainstream nature sites.
Rdeisky Nature Reserve
Rdeisky Reserve lies in northwest Novgorod Oblast, Demyansk District. Protected forest with old-growth taiga sections, the Rdechka River and tributaries; a cascade known as Rdeisky Falls. Access follows strict reserve rules: guided routes, escort or permits by zone. Not open parkland — the aim is forest and aquatic ecosystem conservation. Forest and rural roads lead in; final kilometres may be unpaved. Modest infrastructure: ticket office, trail to the falls, info boards. Few people and genuine forest quiet. For experienced travellers who have seen Ilmen and Valday and want a stricter nature zone. Combine with Demyansk and nearby lakes.
How to get there
By car from Demyansk or from the main highway following reserve signs; check access map on the official site.
Best season
June–August for trails; spring for fuller waterfall flow
