Sevsk Kremlin Hill

Sevsk is among the oldest towns in southwestern Oryol Oblast on the Sevsk River. Earth rampart and ditch fragments of 'Sevsk kremlin' survive — fortifications in chronicles. Small town with single-storey buildings and stone churches. Rampart as park or open monument; river and field views from the top. Sevsk ~140 km from Oryol, near Bryansk border — few tourists. Day trip from Oryol or Bryansk route stop. Sevsk museum (when open) adds local history to the rampart walk. Rampart may be overgrown — sturdy shoes in summer. Windy on the height in winter. Shops for food; few cafés.
