Brick Factory (Shchigry)

Shchigry is an old Kursk Governorate town known since the 17th century. In the 19th–20th centuries brick and ceramic plants supplied construction across the region. Surviving plant buildings show industrial architecture with kiln chimneys, brick walls and timber trusses. Some structures are ruins, some still in use. Not a ticketed museum but an urban industrial landscape: view from the perimeter or with plant management permission. Photos work best in morning side light when chimneys cast long shadows. Shchigry pairs with Korennaya Pustyn (iconostasis by Shchigry craftsmen) and eastern routes toward Tim.
