Shipov Lakes Reserve

Shipov Lakes are a group of forest and floodplain waters in Borisovsky District in the Seversky Donets tributary basin. Local tradition links the name to "ship" — sharp thickets or an old hunting track through bogs. The area combines small woods, meadow bogs and open water surfaces. Migratory birds stop in spring and autumn; ducks, waders, herons and other waterfowl nest. No formal visitor centre — a field route for ornithologists and quiet nature lovers. Access is partly restricted in nesting season; keep quiet and stay on existing trails. Combine Shipov Lakes with Belogorye Reserve and Stenki Izgoriya — all in Borisovsky District. Many mosquitoes and ticks — repellent and closed clothing from May to September. Shipov Lakes — birding route: binoculars beat phone zoom. Stay on approved trails.
