Soldoga Hillfort and Sretenskaya Church

Soldoga hillfort stands on the steep left bank of the Volga in Zavolzhsky District — a notable middle Volga archaeological site with Early Iron Age and medieval layers forming ramparts and a ditch. Next to the ancient core stands the stone Church of the Meeting of the Lord, built in 1792 — a late-18th-century single-dome church with refectory and bell tower. Soldoga suits a trip from Kineshma or Yuryevets: from the Volga you get the classic view of a white church against ramparts and floodplain. Allow time to walk the ramparts and view the church from outside; infrastructure is minimal.
