Timashevsk Stepanov Family Museum

The Timashevsk Stepanov Family Museum is a branch of the E. D. Felitsyn Krasnodar State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve. It is Russia’s only memorial-historical museum dedicated to one family: Epistiniya Fyodorovna and Mikhail Nikolayevich Stepanov and their sons who died in the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. The idea dates to 1963; the museum opened in a purpose-built building in 1970 and joined the regional museum-reserve system in 1975–1977. The Timashevsk display (Pionerskaya St. 174) centres on personal belongings, letters and photographs; museum texts highlight maternal sacrifice, including symbolic bells and busts of the sons by sculptor Vladimir Zhdanov. The wider complex also includes the memorial farmstead at Olkhovsky hamlet, a square with the Mother monument, and a memorial in Dneprovskaya stanitsa where E. F. Stepanova is buried.
