A nature monument on Mount Strizhament’s north slope — a kilometre belt of limestone blocks and Strizhament Cave (~30 m).
Strizhament Stone Chaos
“Stone Chaos” is a regional nature monument on Strizhament’s north slope in Shpakovsky District, 5 km south-west of Temnolesskaya stanitsa, within the Strizhament reserve. Shell-limestone blocks formed 2–2.5 millennia ago when the cap plate collapsed. The belt runs ~1 km, up to 200 m wide. Niches and caves lie among the blocks; Strizhament Cave has two chambers totalling ~30 m, year-round under +10 °C, described by local historian V. Gaazov. Strizhament is the highest point of the Stavropol Upland (831.8 m); the chaos is its signature north-slope landscape, off resort trails.
How to get there
5 km south-west of Temnolesskaya; field roads and a path to Kamennaya Karaulka.
