Suvorin Dacha on Cape Agria

On Cape Agria, in the Chernomorye sanatorium settlement of Tuapse District (near resort Olginka), stand the ruins of a stone dacha built for Mikhail Alekseyevich Suvorin — journalist and publisher, son of the well-known book publisher Aleksey Suvorin and editor of the newspaper Novoye Vremya. In the early twentieth century wealthy owners took plots on the cape; Suvorin’s estate stood out among them. Local histories date the house roughly to 1912 in a formal columnar style. Mikhail helped organise roads to the Agria dachas and in 1916 co-published the guidebook The Black Sea Coast of the Caucasus, which includes a view from his plot. After the revolution he emigrated; in the Soviet period the building served as a sanatorium wing, then fell into ruin. Today walls, columns and garden traces remain — a coastal “beautiful ruin,” not a ticketed museum. Access and structural safety must be judged on site. Cape Agria and the neighbouring forest park form a protected landscape with relict vegetation. The stop suits travellers exploring the Tuapse coast beyond the beach strip, without Gelendzhik or Anapa resort clichés.
