Tashtyp Burial Mounds

Mounds near Tashtyp belong to southern Khakassia's archaeological landscape; many excavated in the 20th century, linked to Sayan foothill nomads. Some visible from the road, others in feather grass. Open-field monument — digging is illegal. District known for taiga, the Uibat River and Salbak Khayaa. Mounds show steppe and mountain traditions intersecting. Visit in dry weather; after rain roads soften. Mound tops view river bends and Sayan ridges. A short stop between drives to petroglyphs and mountains.
