Terpeniya Bay
Terpeniya Bay washes southeast Sakhalin. ~65 km long, up to 130 km wide, max depth ~50 m. The Poronai River and Goryanka tributary flow in. Terpeniya Peninsula partly bounds the east. Poronaysk port city lies on shore — one of the oldest on the island — but the bay's value is not only urban. Shores mix lowlands, coves and rocky stretches; mud-volcano manifestations were recorded on coastal terraces. Base for Tikhaya Bay, Cape Klokov and northbound travel. Travellers value the bay for strong tides and as a corridor along the railway and Okha highway.

Via Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk–Okha highway and railway through Poronaysk; bay views from capes and coastal roads.
