Turukhansk
Turukhansk is the administrative centre of Turukhansky District on the Yenisei’s right bank at the Lower Tunguska mouth, 1,474 km north of Krasnoyarsk. Coordinates 65°47′35″N 87°57′44″E; founded 1657 as Monastyrskoye, town status since 1676. Historic gateway to the northern Yenisei: Arctic expeditions, Decembrist exile, fur trade. Wooden churches and houses remain — on UNESCO tentative list as a monument town. Reach by flight from Krasnoyarsk, winter road or river in navigation. Sharp continental climate; northern but more stable infrastructure than deep taiga. Not Norilsk or an industrial backdrop — a slow northern town with museums and embankment. Respect Kets, Nenets and Russian communities; do not shoot private yards without permission.
