Uibat River Valley

The Uibat is a major Yenisei tributary in Khakassia; upstream the valley is narrow pine-and-fir taiga with rocky banks and rapids. Little resort infrastructure but typical southern republic taiga. Anglers and hunters use the valley; summer camps, winter access depends on snow. Rafting needs local guides who know levels and hazards — not for inexperienced solo runs. The Uibat links steppe districts to the Sayan mountains; dirt roads serve villages and forest posts. Fuel and signal mainly at larger settlements leaving the valley. A deep-taiga route after Tashtyp steppe kurgans. Midges abound; bears occur — store food carefully and pack out litter. Natural follow-on toward Salbak Khayaa and Sandyk petroglyphs if you accept long drives and field overnights.
