Floodplain and embankment at Valuyki town — main nature route of the oblast's east.
Valuyki River Valley
Valuyki town stands on the eponymous river — a left tributary of the Oskol. The Valuy valley runs through Valuysky District with fields, shelterbelts and floodplain meadows. The embankment and parks near the centre are the main walking spots for locals. Anglers fish in summer; spring and autumn floodplain draws migratory birds. Valuyki retains late 19th–early 20th-century building stock: stone shops, water tower, railway station buildings. District centre with over thirty thousand residents. Combine the valley with Krasnaya Polyana memorial (~10 km) and the sanatorium of the same name — an east oblast route. Floodplain may flood after rain — do not walk on spring ice without checking thickness. Valuy River valley at Valuyki — embankment walk, not rafting. Spring high water — avoid eroded banks; Krasnaya Polyana memorial ~10 km.
