Cape Velikan Rock Stacks
Cape Velikan lies on southeastern Sakhalin, on the east coast of Tonino-Aniva Peninsula. The regional nature monument (~43 ha) shows classic abrasive shore with stacks and a marine terrace. Sandy shore meets rocky cliffs with grottoes, arches and sea stacks shaped by waves and wind. The name may derive from a Japanese toponym recorded by Russian navigators in the 19th century. Part of east-coast southern Sakhalin routes, often paired with Aniva Lighthouse and Cape Ptichy. Partly dirt road, final sections on foot. Not a city viewpoint — a nature site for long drives from Korsakov and Okhotsk Sea weather.
How to get there
By car from Korsakov along the east coast toward Cape Velikan; sections are unpaved.
