Verkhnaya Toima Village

Verkhnaya Toima stands on the Kuloy far from federal highways. Main landmark — a wooden church among meadows, river and farm buildings. A living village — farming continues, seasonal visitors study architecture. Not every yard or church is open — respect private land and service times. Dirt roads from Velsk district or neighbouring villages; rain makes ruts and fords harder. Winter ice roads, summer four-wheel drive preferred. Include in a Kuloy loop with Kimzha and other churches — a multi-day trip, not a day outing from Arkhangelsk. Dense meadow mosquitoes and ticks in summer; short winter daylight and frost. Repellent, food and warm layers even for brief stops.
