Vodlozero Lake Shore
Lake Vodlozero lies in south-east Karelia; surface area ~358 km². Low, sometimes marshy shores; vast primary and secondary taiga surrounds it. Vodlozersky National Park protects the lake, tributaries and historic wooden churches in nearby villages. Modest tourist infrastructure at a few landings. Known to anglers, paddlers and quiet taiga lovers. Motor limits and protection rules apply on parts of the water — check before travel. An alternative to postcard Ladoga for those accepting long drives and simple conditions for northern forest and water at scale.
