Voronezh Reservoir Dam

Voronezh Reservoir was created in 1971–1973 by damming the Don near Semiluki. Volume about 2.4 cubic km; it supplies Voronezh with water, regulates flow and supports fish farming. The dam and shore are a familiar agglomeration landscape: wide water, shelter belts, beaches and recreation bases. Summer brings swimming, fishing and boating; winter — ice fishing when ice is safe. Viewpoints at the dam and opposite bank panorama the reservoir and Don valley. An engineering site, but for locals it is the "sea" within reach of the oblast centre. Shores are partly dachas and bases; public recreation zones exist but infrastructure is uneven. Plan parking and routes — not all water access is paved. Combine with Usman Don pine woods (~15 km) or Ramon and chalk hills to the north. Strong winds occur at the dam and open water; follow safety rules in boats and do not go out under storm warnings.
