Vyazma Kremlin Hill

Vyazma is among the oldest towns of Smolensk land, in 11th–12th-century chronicles. The fortress rampart on a high river bank retains earthwork fragments; summit views over the floodplain and old quarters. The town survived invasions, fires and wars; the stone kremlin is gone but rampart and ditch recall medieval Vyazma as a fortress on the Smolensk–Moscow route. Today Vyazma is a small regional centre with single-storey buildings, stone churches and monasteries. The rampart is a park zone or open monument without a single museum hub. Rampart walk takes 40–60 minutes; combine with Glinka estate in Khmelita and Monastyrshchina museum — three Vyazma-route stops. Vyazma ~120 km from Smolensk on the Moscow highway; a convenient stop between regional capital and capital city. Steep slopes — sturdy shoes. Windy on the height in winter.
