Yeysk Samsonov Museum

The Yeysk Historical and Local-History Museum named after V. V. Samsonov is among the oldest museums in Krasnodar Krai. It was founded on 5 May 1920 from a teaching-aids museum opened by town educators in 1910. In February 2000 it took the name of local historian Vladimir Vasilyevich Samsonov, who directed the museum from 1929 to 1962. Main address: Sverdlova St. 104/1. Collections cover Azov nature, Yeysk as a port and resort town, ethnography and art; branches include the I. M. Poddubny memorial museum and an art museum. Current shows and hours are on muzeisamsonova.ru and Culture.ru. Yeysk and the Azov coast rarely appear on the same “south” lists as Sochi; the museum is a dense local-history gateway to this other Kuban — windy, portside and steppe.
