Zabaikalsky National Park

Zabaikalsky National Park protects southeast Baikal shore and nearby ranges. Pine forest, rocky capes and open water — a sharp contrast to dry Chita steppe at the first shore. Trails to viewpoints and shore walks; some require tickets and visitor-centre registration. Fire, camp and conservation rules are stricter than on unregulated shores. Cooler than Chita — lake wind and chilly nights even in summer. Warm layers and wind protection in July; swimming possible but water is cold. Services at visitor centres and bases on park edges; tents and cabins inside by park rules. No mass-resort amenities. Complements Trans-Baikal routes approaching Baikal from the east via Ulan-Ude or Chita — quiet trails and lake views, not a one-hour roadside resort stop.
