Zhecha River Valley

The Zhecha River is a left Unecha tributary about 34 km long; it flows through Unechsky District, Bryansk Oblast. The valley is narrow with steep banks in places — locals speak of a "necklace" of slopes. Zhecha rises from boggy sources and feeds meadow vegetation on the floodplain. Spring brings high water; in summer the river shallows and suits quiet fishing. Mixed forest and rural roads line the banks; no official eco-trails. The route suits those seeking quiet spots away from tourist hubs. The mouth at Unecha town is a logical start or end point; combine with Unecha's railway museum. Mosquitoes are active near water in July–August; bring repellent.
