Zlynka Railway Town

Zlynka is a town in Zlynkovsky District at Bryansk Oblast's western edge on the Belarus border. By population it is the oblast's smallest city; town status dates to pre-revolutionary times as a trade and transport hub. Historically Zlynka grew as a railway station on a line linking central Russia with western directions. The station building and adjacent quarters reflect the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. Today's passenger station is in Vysok settlement, eight to nine kilometres from the town centre — typical for small junctions where town and station are separate. The centre retains one- and two-storey houses, brickwork and old shops. Not a tourist hub but an example of a small border town. The route suits trips from Novozybkov or Starodub toward the Belarus border.
