Alexeevsky Convent (Zolotukhino)

The St Alexey Women's Convent stands in Zolotukhino on the Snov River, 40 km north of Kursk. The settlement has been known since the 19th century as a station on the Oryol–Kursk railway; the convent became its spiritual centre. The stone church with dome and bell tower is typical of provincial monastic architecture from the late 19th to early 20th century. White walls contrast with meadow landscapes of the Snov and Field Snov interfluve. After a break in the 20th century the convent resumed life; services and maintenance continue. The grounds are compact — under an hour — but offer a rare steppe monastery image for Kursk Oblast. Zolotukhino fits routes between Kursk and Fatezh: asphalt and rail nearby, little tourist infrastructure — eat in town or bring food. Zolotukhino is a rare steppe monastery by the railway: reach it by Kursk–Fatezh train and walk from the station. Few cafés — bring water and snacks for a half-day visit.
